Lately I've started crashing boards bitching about the bitching. I want to apologize to Silverandblackpride for that and to members I may have offended with recent comments. Moving forward, I've decided to seek a smaller audience for the positive exchange of comments regarding the team's season so far and perhaps share some whimsical ideas about the play offs. Now since this is a place where Pryortown-Reggie Mckenzie-One Feather-One Run-One Finger ball washers chat, believe me, you really don't want to be here unless you want to be here. I mean really. But let's just try to keep it positive, that's all I'm really saying. I know some people really do feel good or excited. We can bitch about 2nd halfs on any thread in here so it's not like we're stealing space.
Anyway, ;as the official sudser, I'll start: I'm fucking impressed because the checklist is getting done. And the fact that the checklist is getting done tells me they have a good checklist.( BTW, no one does any physical balls washing. We kidnap haters and make them do it after a win) RM and One Feather do have a checklist and they are checking things off. We're at chess level on defense. We can move the pieces now and maintain effectiveness and increase efficiency. The beauty of it is that it's not personality driven. The lack of big names (although Houston is certainly making one for himself) points to system because that's the only way you get to chess level. One Finger is doing it but I see One Feather and RM handprints all over it as well. I think it's wonderful.
The priorities have been good. The focus on defense is paying dividends now. We have a system and can afford to shop for quality players for key positions. We have depth on defense. Consider that the opening drive of the second half for Pittsburgh took almost 10 minutes and yet it yielded no points. And that the defense was still able to hold in the final minutes of the game. I think we're set on defense for awhile.
Offense is at an interesting crossroads and it's moving in the right direction. Earlier in the season, it's obvious that, during a contract year, DMC was going to be the goto back. The abject failure of that plan is forcing the team into expanding outside of DMC the RB. It's working and the only time it doesn't work is when he's DMC the RB. Hell, DMC the QB is better and a double threat. Anyway, DA was frustrated because the poor execution made the conservative ball look worse than it was. Offense is moving up the checklist a lot faster. I do believe there's a tinkerer in One Run that I didn't feel in Knapp. Hope I'm right. He was dead on the money about Ford this week.
