It's the same as it ever was..going on 11 plus years now.. We are just not progressing in the manner in which we should be. Time to unlearn what we have learned.
Overall, it appears our Defense has gotten a little better since the beginning of the year, but you really couldn't tell last Sunday. It's not like the Jets were Peyton Manning & the Broncos either..they were the JETS!!! Rookie Geno Smith had grabbed 219 yards with 1 Touchdown before the day was done. What's grinding my gears is I know we are better than what we appear to be. I've seen all of these players defend passing and rushing well at one time (San Diego will always stick out). There isn't many I would want to replace besides a few guys on the Defensive line. Nick Roach did the best he could with 8 tackles, 1 assist and one forced fumble. Kevin Burnett also had a a good day with 4 tackles, 1 assist and 1 Interception. Too bad we couldn't get points out of this. Damn, do we need a pass Rush in the worst way. It seems like this is the only thing that's stopping us from becoming a top 10 Defense. Hmm, maybe they need a Sith Lord to slice through the Line..
Offense- There just wasn't enough production the 1st half. McGloin tried his best, but it just wasn't enough. That pick he threw to Ed Reed was right to him. That interception was very costly because it gave the opposition 7 points. I knew he deserved the job to start over Pryor, but I'm not so sure about the future. The fact that we'll start off next year with uncertainty at our QB position makes me more frustrated than anything. So many QB's after Gannon..and none that proved their worth. Heh, maybe Rich should just put on pads again...get down from the booth and show us!!! At least my good buddy, Marcel Reece went nuts with 123 yards and 1 Touchdown. I believe the Lord of the Sith, Master of all evil always knew he had good in him. My plan of attack from the very beginning was to utilize a double barrel attack with Darren McFadden and Marcel. Now??? Eh...bye #20. We'll see what we can still do with Reece in the future. The Tight End position doesn't sound too bad to me (Thanks for the suggestion, Romo). The draft order for yours truly starts in the following order: Quarterback, Offensive Tackle, Running Back and Wide Receiver. I guess Free Agents can fill some of those spots, but it's really hard to imagine great players coming to us just for the Hell of it. Thank the Heavens we'll have a decent amount of cash to spend after this horrible 2013 season. Let's hope players are still about the paper...ha! Of course they are...why else would Adrian Peterson play for the Vikings?
Special Teams: Jano, this really isn't your year. If you combine that miss with that 7 from the INT in the first half we're tied with the Jets. On top of it all, the confidence of the Kicker decreases with every miss. I never want to hear an excuse or RUMORS of excuses again, ya big bodied Polack ya..
"Unfortunately, every time that we got ourselves back in the ballgame by going down and scoring," Allen said, "defensively, we couldn't make it hold up."The biggest culprit was the defense, especially in the second half when the Raiders tried to mount a comeback in the New York Jets' 37-27 victory Sunday.
A week after being benched, rookie Geno Smith threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Jets (6-7) set a season high for points and stopped a three-game skid against the leaky Raidersdefense.
Oakland has lost three straight overall, and 13 in a row in games played in the Eastern time zone.
"Today is as bad as we played this whole season," safety Charles Woodson said. "It was really embarrassing to be part of it. We looked like the Bad NewsBears out there. I do want to give a lot of credit to our offense. They never stopped fighting and really gave us a chance to still be in the game."
After falling behind 20-3, Oakland got on the scoreboard right away in the second half as Reece zipped up the middle for a 63-yard touchdown. The Jetscame right back as Smith ran for an 8-yard score.
"As an offense we settled in, made some adjustments at halftime, which was good to see," McGloin said. "We played well in the second half and competed."
Nick Folk kicked three field goals for New York and Antonio Allen blocked a punt and returned it for a score to help the Jets avoid their first four-game losing streak under Rex Ryan. But Chris Ivory blasted into the end zone from 15 yards, slipping out of three tackle attempts and dragging a fourth Raiders defender over the goal line for a 37-20 lead. The play was set up by Smith's 32-yard scramble.
"Man, we needed that in the worst way," Ryan said, "to say the least."
Smith ended a miserable stretch that included getting benched last week by throwing his first touchdown pass since Week 7. He finished 16 of 25 for 219 yards with an interception, and ran five times for 50 yards.
While not eliminated, the Raiders will need to sweep the final three games, and get a lot of help, to make the playoffs.
"We've got some tough guys on this team and I don't think guys will quit playing regardless of where we're at as a team," Woodson said.
With Oakland trailing 10-0, Terrelle Pryor came in at quarterback on the Raiders' third offensive series, a planned entrance to help offset the Raiders' lack of running backs with Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings and Jeremy Stewart all inactive with injuries.
Pryor led a drive capped by a 41-yard field goal by Janikowski. Then McGloin returned and, on third-and-9 from the 3, Reed got his 62nd career interception and first as a Jet to lead to a field goal."We wanted to get him in early in the game and then evaluate it and see how it went after that," Allen said.
Allen blocked Marquette King's punt, recovered it and returned it for a touchdown to put New York ahead 20-3.
McGloin, 18 of 31 for 245 yards, connected with Mychal Rivera on a 1-yard touchdown with 2:24 remaining.
"It's a loss," McGloin said. "It's frustrating, disappointing. You can say it's the experience thing, a learning process. It's just a bunch of excuses. It's another loss, at the end of the day."
Do or die time, Nation!!! Let's scalp the Chiefs and give our crew some good spirits for the rest of the month, shall we?
