Let's play GM for any NFL team.
Let's say that this off-season you're a GM and have a head coaching vacancy...
Let's say that DA submits his resume for the job because he's available...
Do you even interview him?
Do you hire him?
The reason I ask this is because if you wouldn't interview him as a candidate or hire him for the position how can you be comfortable with him being the HC for a 3rd season?
And it is as simple as that really.
I've been asked who my top HC Candidates I would want to interview are so here you go...
1. Guy Malzan - Auburn - The most innovative running game I've ever seen. Excellent precision, timing, and technique for 3 straight seasons, which tells me the guy can teach. Love his passion and sideline demeanor. Love how he holds his players accountable without yelling at them. Always teaching the game.
2. Mike Zimmer - Cinncinati - 6+ seasons as a DC, Assistant of the Year honors, his defenses are 3-4 base and have averaged creating over 24 TOs per season with a high of 30 TO's in 2012. Obvious passion and very aggressive play caller. His defenses have given up more than 40 points 2 times in 80 games and in both of those games the offense turned the ball over more than 3 times. No nonsense guy with a clear bottom line of winning. Looks ready to lead.
3. Gruden - He still loves the Raiders and his track record when working with a GM speaks for itself.
4. David Shaw - Talented, fundamental football coach that values ball control and line dominance by both sides. He may not out strategize his opponents so that can lead to being out coached, but his team will beat the shit out of opponents physically in an attempt to break their will. Somewhat conservative, but clearly an excellent football coach.
Who would you like to see leading our men next year?
