Alright Nation - Happy New Year!
I want to pose a question. I have seen Jonny Manziel rated between 6-42 on draft big boards by so called experts. I have seen mock drafts where we draft him in the first and second rounds.
I have seen him play numerous times and have seen so much improvement in his pocket mechanics and arm strength this year, I was wondering about him as Raider prospect.
At 6-0 and 220lb he brings a stout, but not tall build to the table, combining instincts rarely seen in a QB, with a flare for the dramatic. He has produced big games against the elite teams, but also has thrown the ball up on occasion leaving his coach as well as myself shaking my head in wonder.
I would place him at about 20-25 on a big board, but place him at a 5 on a "boom or bust pick" board as he seems to have those "it" intangibles which help to overcome his lack of height and decision making.
I would not want him at 4-8 in the first round, but wondered if we were to trade down (which I expect the Raiders to do if Clowney is off the board) - but say, if he were available at 26 or there abouts - or, if he were available at the slot of our second round pick - would you consider him? If so why not? Please give a good reason and not just that "he sucks" even if this is your opinion.
