It is interesting in this Christmas season - a season of perpetual hope and giving - that the Raider nation must think what we might have to forfeit in terms of play makers in order to win a few (or one) more game.
Currently, Walter Football has us as picking 8 and taking WR Mike Evans - a true #1 prospect. He is the #1 WR - two picks before Sammy Watkins (the player I believe makes a bigger difference).
Shortly after Evans, they have Derek Carr (who I am not completely sold on as better than McGloin is right now)and Khalil Mack two players I find intriguing due to their talent. There obviously is great depth in this draft at OT as Lewan is down at 18.
After 13 I do not see real game changer types (Though, IMO -Ekpre-Olomu CB from Oregon is one).
So now, looking at teams and record, should we win at Jets and win one of the conference games, what would we likely sacrifice? IMO - we will sacrifice a lot in terms of proven playmaking ability.
By winning two more games we would be looking at best, being able to get Nix or Lewan - possibly Marquise Lee or Safety Dix from Alabama. Hagemann would also likely be available should we look to the DT for a pressuring versatile giant on the DLine.
For me the drive to win is too great to tank - at anything - I hate losing. However, is it worth seeing our beloved team lose in order to find the kind of playmakers available in the top 10 this year?
