I was looking around on twitter feeds, and I noticed someone said something about a WR named Courtney Gardner that looks really good. Before I introduce you to the video, let me introduce you to this under the radar WR.
From a size standpoint, the guy is big. Standing at 6'3", 215 lbs. Runs the 40 time in the 4.4's as well. Athletically, Gardner is gifted, and it helps that he does come from a college in Cali as well so the Raiders can hopefully look at him further.
From the video standpoint, I want you to ignore the competition thing just for a moment. When you watch him, you will see that he has above average burst at the LOS. Is VERY quick for his size, eluding defenders. Runs multiple routes. A PUNISHING blocker (you'll see him completely man handling people in blocking).
What's most important for me is his ability to track the ball when jumping up to contest for it. You'll see him jump high, contort his body, and have his hands extend to make the catch. That's really good fundamentals.
And he looks like a deep threat to me. With his size and speed, the guy knows how to get past you, whet5her it be nifty double moves, or he'll just escape your press coverage and race you downfield.
He was offered to go to Oklahoma, but I can't remember the reason why he did not end up going there. I know that he does have trouble in academics, and he has been reported with some minor law breaking (such as possessing alcohol as a minor in 2009).
Needless to say though, we should treat him as a slight character concern, and I currently cannot find a solid draft projection. However I think we should look into him heavily.
