With the Raiders having the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, they will be meeting with... well, a host of the top draft prospects between now and the draft. And the team will meet with the consensus top prospect in the draft today at the Texas A&M Pro Day.
It is not out of the realm of possibility the Raiders could select Joeckel if he were on the board when they pick at number three. He is a left tackle prospect but could be moved to right tackle. Or Jared Veldheer could be moved to right tackle.
The Chiefs will also be meeting with Joeckel later this month. They have the number one overall pick. They too already have a left tackle in Branden Albert on whom they placed the franchise tag this year so they are in a similar situation as the Raiders with regard to Joeckel.
Joeckel is out of Texas A&M where he protected Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Johnny Manzeil to help the No. 10 ranked Aggies to a Cotton Bowl win over Oklahoma.
Texas A&M is also where Raiders head coach Dennis Allen played his college ball and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant. Dennis Allen's father, Grady Allen, also played there. Raiders defensive line coach, Terrell Williams coached at Texas A&M before being hired on to Allen's staff last season.
