While it seems pretty obvious that Flynn is right now the favorite to ern the starting job (you know, with Reggie endorsing him to be the starter and all), it's clear that's not for granted.
We all know the heat that comes out from your computer screen every time someone talks about Terrelle Pryor: whether you like him as a player or not, you can't deny his charisma, his hard working and his athleticism. No matter who you have as your starter, there will always be guys wanting a shot for Pryor.
Tyler Wilson seemed like a top QB under Petrino and he could very well end up beating Flynn for the starting job. He is talented, he has poise, he is smart.
So, why Hawk? Why are you rooting for Flynn?
Well, there are three top reasons:
1. Tradition: The Oakland Raiders have a long tradition of redeeming players who seemed like outcasts in other teams. Cliff Branch, Jim Plunkett, George Blanda, Rich Gannon... all of them were great Raiders who were misfits anywhere else.
2. Poetic justice: He was Jamarcuss Russel's back up at LSU. When we drafted the walruss-like slob who is now known as the biggest bust of all time, Flynn finally had his chance to be a starter. He did what Jamarcuss couldn't (no, I don't mean fitting in his pants), he won the national championship. Either way, he got drafted until 7th round. Now he has a new chance to thrive where Russel miserably failed. you have to love the irony.
3. His 2 games have been great! I know those games must be a fluke (other way, why on earth he isn't the top rated QB on thge league???), I know he won't be throwing over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns many times a year, but the thing is, unlike any other QB who has weared the silver and black for the last 10 years, he has proven that, any given sunday he can do it.
