Bring the Hue Jackson esque offense with a twist of Greg Olson.

By no means am I suggesting that we should go back to Hue Jackson as our head coach. But if you look back to our offense when he was running it; it was fun, exciting, unpredictable and successful. Remember the reverses to Louis Murphy, DHB, Jacoby Ford; the screen passes; the fake field goals and punts; going for it on tough 4th down situations; DMC running off the edge hard; long balls; and big plays. Gutsy calls and successful offensive plays bring confidence to the whole team on both sides of the ball. We were missing this all last year with the predictability, stubbornness and dull offense run by Greg Knapp. Where did all our big plays? Mistaken me if I am wrong but two years ago when we went 8-8, we were in the top of the league for big plays (plays for over 25 yards).

What I do suggest is that Greg Olson should definitely look back to the season where Hue Jackson did the play calling and take some notes. I think that the Raiders are definitely talented enough on the offensive side to not only be exciting but also to be successful and score touchdowns rather than resort to field goals every drive. Greg Olson has weapons at each position which if used correctly could lead to an electrifying season.

At quarterback as of right now it is Matt Flynn who has shown to have a strong arm, maybe not necessarily a Carson Palmer type deep threat but good enough to be able to throw it down the field to our speedy receivers and make good decisions. The long ball and passing game in general can be set up by the running efforts of DMC and Marcel Reece, who if put in the right situations I do not see why cannot be one of the best backfields in the NFL. Also there's been a lot of talk of Latavius, working up the depth chart to the possible second spot. Regardless if he does or not we have a very solid backfield with the addition of Rashad Jennings as well . If the running game can be established early by the leading efforts of the HULK and whiz, this should take a lot of pressure off of Flynn and allow him to make good and easy decisions. Our receiving core although is not made up of big name guys who ESPN can rave about, it is still young and full of potential. I expect Streater and Criner to only improve. Denarius Moore has to be hungry after having a little bit of a sophmore slump. Although on paper his statistics improved, I think we can all agree we expected bigger things out of him after having a sensational rookie year out of nowhere. Jacoby Ford should be back and healthy , who we have not seen for a whole year. We got Josh Cribbs now who could give us a deep ball threat. Also, there's been some articles by Levi about Connor Vernon, so he's a another speedy down the field threat.

I'm not saying the whole offense resides around the decision making of Greg Olson and how he wants to utilize the players. But, we saw how Greg Knapp ruined the offense, and Carson Palmer to his credit still had one of the best quarterback seasons in the history of the Raiders. This goes to show if the OC can show up and the players show up, this could be one hell of an exciting Raiders offense full of touchdowns and big plays!
