With the sight of Ford standing on the sideline for practice Monday, it was one of those ‘here we go again' moments for the oft injured receiver. He wasn't even on the field for the first part of practice before emerging from the training room along with injured Josh Cribbs about halfway through practice.
At the end of practice, as if to send a message to media walking back to the press room, Ford trotted off the field ahead of his teammates with no visible limp.
In Dennis Allen's press conference, he said Ford had ‘tweaked his hamstring' and at this stage of the off-season, there's no real reason for him to practice and risk causing an actual injury. Now's the time for precautions.
The Raiders need all the weapons they can get this season and Ford is definitely one of those weapons. He is expected to share return duties with Josh Cribbs as well as be the team's primary slot receiver. His health is therefore critical.
