Another "What if?" to ponder...

Approximately a couple of weeks ago, I posted a "What if...?" scenario that got a lot of responses - much more than I had expected. So I thought I'd throw another one out and see if it had the wings to fly.

Last year Carson Palmer threw for 4018 yards with a completion percentage of 61.1 and his touchdown to interception ratio was 22 TD/14 INT. I think we can all agree that most of that came in garbage time when the game was already lost and opposing defenses had no respect for the Raiders.

Nonetheless, Palmer did put up some points with a pretty weak offense. Dmac was injured, the blocking scheme was horribly inefficient in all aspects, and our OC, Mr. TakeACrap Knapp was just ignorant. The Raiders WR corps were almost entirely decimated by injuries. Yeah, we had HeyBey...but he never really panned out anyway, and is therefore gone and so is his over-the-top paycheck. We had Bush (who I wish had never left!) and Reece who never really was utilized like he should have been. We had a pretty good TE (Raider brass let him go too!) who made me almost forget about Zach Miller. But in reality, this was a floundering offense, and I admired how Palmer was still able to put up some points.

Now I need to interject here and say that I think Carson Palmer is a crybaby, a mama's boy, and a great big douchebag. He quit on the Bungles, and he quit on us. One of the more memorable things about Palmer (to me anyway) was when he refused to play and told the Bungle Brass that he didn't need the money, he was already a millionaire. Ok...it's been a while and I am just posting what I remember. So I was pretty shocked and took it pretty hard when he bailed on us, and honestly, while I do not wish serious injury on anyone, I would not be too butt hurt if he went down REALLY hard and had to be carted off the field. Damn that is just wrong. Sorry guys...emotions and all.

So here is my "what if...?" for you all to consider. If Palmer had taken the paycut, would we be a better team with him and Pryor, or are we better now with Flynn and Pryor, with Wilson and McG in the wings?

***************************************************************************************************************************

Here is my thought. A happy Palmer could have been a great mentor to Pryor and a more than adequate QB for the team. I like Flynn, but I don't love him, if you know what I mean. There are currently 4 qb's on the roster with what - 4 NFL starts between them? Six months ago, I would have liked to see Palmer rocking the silver and black this year. But he proved to be such a douche that I am glad he is gone and I hope the Redbirds are bottom-feeding in the NFC West with him at the helm.

I do not think that Flynn will be the rockstar we need, and as much as I like Pryor, I am not sure he will be either (although I still have hope for him). What I do believe is that having 4 young, inexperienced QBs gives the coaching staff more options and that these young men will develop bonds and help each other to improve. Yeah, and maybe I believe in rainbow-colored unicorns. So anyway, that is my "what if...?" What do you all think?
