So many in Raider Nation looking down at the floor this morning - looking for blame angles = understandable with a game we were not supposed to competitive in and we were inches from winning!
More than one poster asked about why Marcel Reece was not used more effectively in the offensive game plan. After watching the interview with Pryor and going back over some of the highlight runs for our athletic QB - I think I understand that he actually was used aggressively by the OC.
Pryor alluded to the key blocks that Marcel Reece threw for him to get him around the corners. Yesterday, Marcel Reece excelled at blocking the edge - essential when the skill set of a player like Pryor is the center of your offense = as it should be!
What I understand from my years of coaching athletics and clinics is that sometimes one person has to be sacrificed in order that 4-5 more might succeed.
With our OL only having had one day to practice knowing what positions they were actually going to play - it appeared that part of the game plan was to sacrifice Reece's in-space skills to use his lateral quickness to seal the edge and help as a chip blocker. The plan was executed to near perfection.
Just a post-game reflection to chew on - any other thoughts?
