It strikes me we have no clue who the Mark Davis raiders will be. It also strikes me that the Raiders lack any identifiable identity at the moment. We currently have a team stripped down to bare bones at the end of a deconstruction and the fundamental question of who the raiders are/will be is unanswered. We know who and what they have been in the past including the most recent decade of being hopeless overpaid lazy losers. About the only identity one can ascribe to the last decade unfortunately.
Does mark plan on rebuilding his fathers team? A new team, what will that teams identity be? Considering the demolition the answer seems to be it will be something new. Allen and Reggie are clearly bringing in character guys by and large? And by character they don't seem to mean simply not lazy. 40 times at the combine don't seem a primary deciding characteristic? About all I think I know for certain is we want a power run game.
This is a team desperately needing an identity. I actually believe we need to become something new as the old formula has been demoted by the NFL rulebook. However there are definite traits of the old raiders. The hard non conformist edge the NFL hates so much I'ld like to see somehow remain. How does that come into the modern era of football and what does it look like.
Come March we'll start to get an idea if Reggie is doing his job well. But it strikes me as an important question to ask because that identity should to a significant extent drive both FA and Draft decisions.
