As much as I'd like to join the "draft a QB with the #5 pick crowd" I just can't. Look we all know if the Raiders take a QB in the first round that we still have to try bring in a veteran QB or leave our fate in the hands of McGloin and Pryor. The problem is we need players to make an impact now, and regardless if we took the best QB in the draft at 5, he's not going to lead us to a 10 win season. I think the Raiders biggest need is in the trenches on both the Offensive and Defensive lines. Free agency is the key to this season, we have the money to spend and certain players out there can be enticed financially to come to Oakland. The Raiders should throw a nice payday at Talib, a top flight corner to go with Hayden and Porter in the slot would help tremendously. Offensive line should be attacked in free agency, whether it's a Center or a Guard or both, we need to bring in some talent on that line so we can win at the point of attack. If we're able to shore up the offensive line in free agency, that changes our draft needs. We become a player in a trade up for Clowney, with him and Houston on the Defensive line, Sims proved himself at DT, all we need is to fill the other DT spot and we have the ability to not only rush the passer with our front 4, but to stop the run as well. Linebacker is an area that needs improvement, I don't want burnett to be depended on to play big minutes, he's just not that good. Staying at 5 and taking Barr is an option that won't cost us a 2nd rounder. But if we fill our void in free agency on the offensive line, we don't need the 2nd round pick as much because it was going to be used to draft a guard anyway. Truth be told we have so many holes to fill there are a lot of ways we can go, but I believe completely that if we don't get an impact player for THIS season at #5 that we won't see much of an improvement in the win-loss column.
