Raiders sign 3 more players to Reserve/Future contracts

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

The Oakland Raiders have announced three more signings for their Reserve/Future contracts. These types of contracts ensure that the Raiders retain the rights to these players so that they can attempt to make the team next season.

The player with the most experience that was signed is CB Neiko Thorpe who has spent the last couple of years with the Kansas City Chiefs, mostly on their practice squad. He did appear in 9 games for them and managed to accumulate 5 solo tackles over that time. He has great size at 6-2, 185lbs and was part of the Auburn 2010 BCS National Championship team.

The other two players are Frank Beltre, a LB who spent time last year with the San Diego Chargers, and Jarrod Shaw who was part of the Cleveland Browns over the last two seasons. Neither player has any stats in the NFL.

Shaw is a 6-3, 316lb center who was signed to the Browns active roster this past season but did not manage to get into any games. He was originally an undrafted free agent out of University of Tennessee where he was a teammate of current Raiders tight end, Mychal Rivera.

Frank Beltre is a 6-2, 240lb linebacker out of little known Towson University. He was in camp last year with the Chargers but was one of the final cuts to get down to the 53 players roster limit. He did have a pretty impressive Pro Day though where he clocked a 4.67 40-yard dash, a 9ft 4in broad jump and a 34 1'2 in vertical jump.

These signings bring the total reserve/future contracts signed by the Raiders to 13 since the season started. They had signed ten last week to deals.
