IF we were to trade down in the first round, I was thinking of potential partners.
Usually, teams will only trade up if they have extra draft picks they are willing to give up. Unfortunately, the teams who have extra picks are teams ahead of us in the first round - namely Cleveland, St. Louis, and Jacksonville. San Fran has an extra 2nd rounder but they don't have enough to trade that far up.
To me, the only team who has any potential trade value right now is Minnesota at #8. They have an extra 3rd rounder. If we're focused on a guy like Watkins who will probably be around at #8, we could trade the four spots back. But if they are focused on a quarterback, then the worry is that all the other teams who want qbs will have picked most over, leaving Minnesota with no reason to trade up.
But most likely, we're stuck at #5 - which isn't too bad.
