Among the talking heads, Clowney is generally regarded as the top prospect. It is also very possible that he is available at #5. If we go with BPA, we take him.
In the 2nd round, it is entirely possible that Richardson and other positions of need are gone. But what if Trent Murphy is still available (very possible). He also grades out very well - I've mostly seen him as an end of the 1st round guy. Do we take book ends the first two rounds?
Then in the 3rd, say a guy like Sutton or Donald slip at DT. I've mostly seen 2nd round grades on both of these guys but I have seen mock drafts where they fall. It is possible, although not quite as likely. But if available, would you be okay with the first three picks being DE, DE, DT.
To me, getting this type of value at these draft positions is worth it, but it does leave us vulnerable at other positions. I generally consider the first 3 rounds of players as probably starters while the remainder serve in backup roles off the start. But is it okay to solidify the d-line if these are the best players available rather than to reach for a WR, QB, or G?
I realize this is all very hypothetical. I just felt like posing the question.
