Reggie's a keeper but in a different role...

My mind tells me Reggie is a true Raider, unlike a lot of individuals whom recently have passed through this organization. Can Reggie adjust in a lesser role similar to what he did in Green Bay? Or will his pride get in the way? If he's a true Raider he'll accept but Mark and whomever is hired has to be willing. I say this because after this season Reggie has one year remaining on his contract. I think that would be enough time for him to settle in a lesser role and not be in the spotlight(think Al Saunders). I think it should be considered despite the blemishes. Failure can be looked upon in many different ways. The one thing I can say about Reggie is that he has an eye for young talent. Every organization needs that. Free agency decisions has not been as good and this would make or break any GM. Bringing in over the hill veterans that can't produce, this is one area where McKenzie has failed.

The good thing is none of them are long term. He could have easily caused us long term harm with extended year contracts due to the pressure but he didn't and I respect him for that. Anyone remember what Chris Mullin did to Golden State before he was let go? I'm sure Mark has his hand on the steering wheel and has a plan after this season but I think Reggie should be retained. He was in over his head from the beginning and I think he's made progress in certain areas, just not enough to call all the shots.
