Thanks to all who took a look at my first post. I appreciate the criticism and complements that you all gave. Hopefully I will get better and better with each post.
But I just want to make one thing clear everyone who uses this S&B pride should all have one common feeling about this team "Just Win Baby". It's been a long ten years but I can see the opening of the light of the tunnel out of the darkness.
CAP SPACE: 60 plus million
What that means: The raiders can spend 60 million on bonus given to players this off-season
First they will need to resign some talent back
J. VELDHEER- 14-17 million guaranteed
L. HOUSTON- 8-13 million guaranteed
C. WOODSON- 1-3 million guaranteed
P.SIMS- 2-5 million guaranteed
U. YOUNG- 1-2 million guaranteed
R. JENNINGS- 2-4 million guaranteed
T. PORTER- 1-3 million guaranteed
K. BARNES- 500,000-1.5 million guaranteed
M. JENKINS- 500,000-1 million guaranteed
V. WALKER- 500,000-2 million guaranteed
Now those are estimates of the guaranteed money that those players would receive if they resigned with Oakland. I could be way off those numbers but they seem realistic to me and to my knowledge.
All of those players are not going to resign but if they did our salary cap would be around 30 million if those players resigned with the projections I gave.
We can all agree that VELDHEER is the #1 priority to get resigned he is going to command ATLEAST 10 million in guaranteed money meaning we then would have 50 million in cap space.
We can agree that HOUSTON is the #2 priority to get resigned he is going to command ATLEAST 8 million in guaranteed money meaning we would have around 40 million in cap space left.
So lets just say hypothetically we will have around 30 million to spend on free agents this year after resigning our players.
Jake Locker---------may not be realistic but this is just my opinion on what Oakland could do. I will explain later how we could acquire Locker.
Eric Ebron------ First round pick: same as Locker may not be realistic but I will explain later.
RIGHT DEFENSIVE END
LEFT DEFENSIVE END
Now I understand that rookies will be scattered through this depth chart as well. As making this depth chart I am becoming more aware of not resigning as many of our players as I once thought.
The Jake Locker trade- I honestly have no idea who the starting QB is going into next season.
Raiders receive- Jake Locker, 11th overall draft pick, 139th overall pick (Tennessee 5th round pick)
Titans receive- 5th overall draft pick, 67th overall draft pick (Oakland's 3rd round pick) Oakland's 3rd round pick in 2015 draft
Reasoning behind this trade: We get a legit starting QB who has experience but is fairly young. Clowney gets drafted before we select at 5. We also pick up a 5th round pick this year which we don't currently have.
Titans want to start fresh at QB and draft either Bridgewater, Manizel, or Bortles. They pick up a third round pick in this years draft which they don't currently have. As well as pick up a third rounder in next year's draft as well.
The chances of this happening 0.001% I realize that but out of all the options at QB right now I believe Jake Locker will be the best fit for this team.
If this trade actually happened I would select Eric Ebron with the 11th overall pick. I am not sure why nobody is even considering the TE position being a weak spot on this team because it is. I do realize that we have bigger needs at other positions but in my opinion I believe Ebron will be a stud at the next level. With drafting two TE's last year we have one that's a solid play-maker in Mychal Rivera. Pairing Ebron and Rivera would be an exciting combination to watch for years to come.
I hope you all enjoyed this piece. I appreciate any comments that you are willing to give positive or negative.
