Draft and Free-Agency strategy.

I've read a lot of posts and threads about which way the Raiders go with their off-season, and how to improve our record of 4-12. Clearly whatever decisions Reggie and D.A make, will affect this team, for some considerable time. Both their heads are potentially on the chopping block. They both know they have to get it right.

I have read a lot of media stuff, which is very derogatory about us and our chances. Likewise, I've read stuff about how close we may be, if we make the right moves. I'm definitely in the latter camp. This team needs some serious quality, and that is how the draft and free-agency should be conducted. We have a lot of very average players and very few of real quality. Its those few quality players that will turn this team around. With $65m in cap space you do not trade back in the draft and acquire more picks. We do not need more players, we need better players. If we could sign our own most wanted f.a's, Veldheer, Houston, Jennings, Sims etc, thereafter we need 3 new top quality guys on each side of the ball, whether by draft or f.a. In the draft it's BPA every pick, according to our board.

This strategy is what turns this team around. Commit our cap to less in bodies count and more in quality count. This will push us over the edge. Furthermore, young free-agents, 25, 26, 27, 28yr olds. Not older has beens, looking for their last payday. We need hunger in this team and continuity. And, talking of continuity, this strategy allows for this because its not jyst a revolving door of players, its about a few top quality guys coming in and raising the level of everyone else.

Let me know what you think, I'm sure you will!
