First and foremost I believe Reggie has every desire to resign JV and LH, but I think both sides aren't in agreement about the market for them, so he's giving them the chance to get that $$$ offer and he'll match it if it's in our best interests. I think the most he's willing to pay JV is $8 and the most for LH is $6. Our other free agents won't break our banks, and our attention should be on impact players that are willing to come here. I would love for us to go after a top flight corner like Talib or Verner and that designation should cost us about $10-11 million. Next I would swing for the fences with Jarrius Byrd, I don't have to mention what his signing would do for our secondary moving forward. If we miss out on him, I would leave the safety position alone and focus on the DT or DE position, at this point only Michael Johnson is worthy of a deal as a pass rusher for us, but our options at DT are pretty deep. Where the Raiders are going to have to think outside the box is with trying to sign Alex Mack away from Cleveland. I think we're all in agreement about how he dramatically improves our offensive line with his blitz read pickup, line calls, and passing and run blocking prowess. While freeing up Wiz to move back to his natural position at guard. Everyone looks at the salary cap like we have X amount of dollars available and a contract takes X amount every year, but the Browns have $50 million in cap space, they can match virtually any offer Mack receives, unless we were to frontload it. If we signed Mack to a 5 year $45 million dollar contract but instead of spreading it out roughly $9 million per, we made the first year something astronomical like $20 million for the first season, now we owe 25 million over the next 4 years and his cap number drops to roughly $6 million a season which would save us $$ in the coming years of a contract with a player at the top of his position in his prime. The Browns are willing to match a deal with Mack getting as much as $11-12 million a season, but I highly doubt with all their holes and free agency needs they're as willing to spend $20 million out the gate in year 1. Mack wants out, he just needs help doing it this year. If we can sign Mack, Byrd, a top corner and resign JV and LH, I think we can trade down in the first and grab a DT like Aaron Donald or a pass rusher like Kony Ealy, and use both picks in the 2nd round to get strong where we still need help. Of course in a perfect draft Clowney falls to us at #5 and we all sing songs and hold hands and watch as we climb out of NFL mediocrity into a force to be reckoned with.
