Free agency isn't over, or near it. Here are some of the remaining players that I expect to see come in for a visit and/or get signed. The positions are just listed in any order, but the players are by my preference, starting from the top of each position.
RB – Don’t anticipate another signing, but may see some talks
OT - Not a position of true need, even after losing Saffold (who I believe was going to play guard)
Charles Brown (swing tackle)
C - If a strong C is brought in, Wisniewski will have to be moved back to OG, but I don’t know if that’s what the team wants to do
Alex Mack (a heavily front loaded contract may work, but Cleveland also has a ton of cap space)
Brian De La Puente
We do have to spend money at some point; I don’t know what our average is right now regarding the 89% of the salary cap, but if dead money counts, we may be in fairly good shape, and be leaving some space for next year without being penalized for it. Considering how hard it can be to draw top free agents to a team that isn’t winning (or at least demonstrably turning the corner) that may be at least part of the long-term strategy. Either way, more players will be coming in, and there will be plenty of cuts upcoming that will present some short-term players.
