I know this sounds crazy but it is my belief that Richie Incognito is one of the final pieces to the Raiders going 8-8 or better. If you look at him as a pure football player he is one of the best guards in the game, not just one of the best guards that is still available. Richie is durable, a road grader, and has that nastiness that I love in my football players.
Look at the projected line up:
LT Menelik Watson, 6'5" 320m lbs, 25 years old ( I love this pick, great athlete and a former boxer) last year Kiper had him going to the Colts at the 24 th pick in the first round. He has only played 3 years of football.
LG Richie Incognito, 6'3" 320 lbs, 30 years old, I am so tired of Brisiel I just want him gone!
C Stefan Wisniewski, 6'3" 310, 24 years old. Gentlemen as much as I like him we are not getting Mack and Ski is not sliding over, otherwise we are going to have to replace him when his contract is up.
RG Kevin Boothe, 6'5" 320 lbs, 30 years old, solid good character player, backed up by Barnes who is 6'6" 321 lbs, years of age.
RT Austin Howard, 6'7" 333 lbs, 26 years old, former TE very athletic, self made player, not drafted out of Northern Iowa, but made himself into one of the best kept secrets in the NFL.
This is where it gets fun, the core of our line is 25 years old, yes Menelik Watson is the wild card, but I love this guy! When he played he dominated and the announcers were always commenting on how well the rookie was doing. Since the season is over he has retained a personal trainer and he is in great shape, remember this is year 3 of american football. Howard will be a fan favorite after the third game, he too is still mastering his craft. Wiz, I prefer him as a left guard, but if it means keeping him happy he is a really good center.
I would offer Incognito an incentive based contract and bring him in immediately, the guy can flat out play! With vets on the team of Tuck, Woodley, and Smith who fed Richie his helmet I do not think we will have any problems.
