The Raiders have brought in the right GM. His philosophy is to build out from the lines, sign smart, tough, character guys. He's been steering a sinking ship from when he got here and I feel he's starting to get us afloat again. He's made some mistakes (rookie GMs tend to do that but so do experienced GMs). RM has made us competitive in a fairly blah FA talent pool and Schaub was a shrewd move. Getting Schaub gives RM a chance to improve our win column (and possibly keep MD at bay) while possibly mentoring a younger replacement. Our division calls for a running, tough offence to keep Peyton and Rivers and even Smith on the sidelines limiting the damage they can do to our defense. I applaud his steady pace.
What will kill us this year is our head coach. This was one of RMs biggest mistakes. DA was not ready to be a head coach when we got him and is still not capable of doing the job. He was a defensive coach but no real progress on that end. His players have not improved under his watch. He has no feel for play calling. I really question what he does. Just look at what McCoy has done since he was hired by the dolts, turned around Rivers career, showed improvement across the board with player development and he has shown a real nak for calling a game. KC turned its season around instantly when they hired a real coach. Fox got the all time gift when the Donkeys picked up Peyton but still was/is considered a good coach.
In the end no matter what RM does in FA and Drafting if DA is here its all for not. We may end up losing a promising GM because of his hiring of a bad HC.
