We have our starting RB on this roster, and it is not who you think. The player I am speaking of is Marcel Reece. This is the move that will change our offense. We can draft that star WR or trade for him but, this move will make all the difference in the world and not cost an extra dime. After letting Jennings walk and looking at free agency it is clear that the best option is already on our roster.
When I say best option I am not saying that as, "well he is all we have." I am saying this guy is the best weapon we have! It is apparent that Olson and DA could care less. The only way we will get to see the full potential of Reece is to make him the starting RB.
We all know what he can do at the position based on the few times he shouldered the load. 2013 in week 14 against the Jets defense, Reece toted the ball 19 times for 123 yards, a 6.5 yard average. The majority of those yards came on an electrifying 63 yard TD run. Aside from that game, he has two other career starts where he received at least 15 carries, both in 2012. Against the Saints he had 19 carries again for 103 yards, and the following week he carried the rock 15 times for 74 yards against a stingy Bengals D.
The sample size is there in my opinion, and we haven’t even discussed his phenomenal hands or durability. Aside from Reece we have a capable FB in Olawale. It is time to put our best player on the field for a significant amount of time. The Nation shouldn’t have to scream every week about Reece getting four touches. Reece should head up the depth chart at RB with McFadden playing second fiddle. What do you think about our RB situation?
