While the entire draft depends on what the Texans do, there are still several trades that could be in the works regardless of who's selected #1 overall. I don't believe the Texans are interested in trading down despite the reports, I believe they stay at #1 and choose Clowney with the less likely scenario being a QB. Atlanta trades with the Rams: If the Texans pass on Clowney and take a QB or even Mack for Romeo's 3-4 defense, Atlanta bets the farm and moves up to #2 to select Clowney. The other dark horse to trade with the Rams is the Vikings, I believe that Bortles is the top QB and player on their board and that they're afraid the Jaguars could take him at #3, they'll have to outbid Atlanta, and seeing as how Atlanta is picking 2 spots ahead of the Vikings, they might have to add as much as a 2nd or 3rd rounder next year to win the bidding war. The Lions are another team I could see pulling off a trade, not sure who they'd trade with seeing as how their top player is Watkins and the rams, jaguars, browns and raiders are all possible landing spots. My gut feeling says that the earliest spot they're looking at is #4, but if somehow Watkins makes it to #5, I think RM will be very tempted to make a move with Detroit. Look for the Patriots to trade Mallet on draft day, I don't think they'll get a 1st rounder for him, but it's very possible one of the QB starved teams will move a 2nd for him, giving the patriots a little bit more ammunition to move up in the draft and take Tom Brady's heir apparent. Why not Mallet you ask? I think his contract offers from other teams will be too much for the Patriots to consider because Brady isn't done yet. They want another 2 or 3 years of Brady which means someone has to be patient, learning, and cheap. I don't see teams needing WR's outside of Detroit being willing to move up, and teams needing offensive tackles being less likely to move up with as many as 5 having 1st round talent. QB's are the wildcards in this draft, if none are taken early they could all fall, but if one or two teams take QB's it'll start a domino effect of trades.
