Clowney is the only player that we know won't be there when we're on the clock at #5, everyone else is a possibility, Robinson, Matthews, Watkins, and Mack are all possible options at #5. With that being said, are any of them worth not trading down and possibly picking up extra picks? When the process first started I was convinced the best thing for the Raiders to do was to take the BPA at #5, and with the top 5 players all having pro bowl potential that seemed like a no brainer. But with a draft this deep, I've started to lean towards the notion that trading back is probably the best option for this team. How far back, that I don't know, but I do expect to pick up a 2nd round pick at the very least if we're moving back 4 or more spots. And for that, I think it's worth it considering there's a great chance we're picking up a quality starter with our 2nd round picks this year. With a team like ours we really can't go wrong in the first round, we need players at almost every position on the field. Everyone is a need pick, we can take a corner like Gilbert, a safety like Dix or Pryor, a linebacker like Barr, a DT like Donald, an OT like Martin, a receiver like Cooks. Everyone upgrades this team and the extra pick gives us more depth. While I'm not a big fan of trading that far back in the first, if the 49ers were to give us all their 2nd and 3rd rounders, I'd do that trade because that kind of influx of picks and talent could be the foundation of our future. We're not winning a superbowl this year anyway.
