If you listened to Big Reg talk after the draft, he kept emphasizing how we wanted to get bigger all around. After looking at what's happened during the off-season, it's obvious that we've done just that. For a team that made a name for itself in the 70s as the bully no one wanted to play, the last 11 years have been painful indeed. The lack of respect from the media and from other teams could probably be encapsulated in the destruction wreaked upon us by the Broncos last year where our lack of pass rush and coverage allowed Manning to add to his record collection.
It's fitting that we picked up George Atkinson III because it's clear that RM is building the Raiders into the type of team GA's father played on. Maybe that's why he's stuck by his coach who was a defensive coordinator just like John Madden. And why he spoke of giving players second chances just like Al did early on. After years of getting punched in the face by Lombardi-less rivals, we're about to start hitting back. And the NFL is going to finally remember what it's like to get punched in the face by the Raiders.
