Back in Mexico and ready to discuss the team once again. Had a great draft party in Colorado and watched in amazement as time and time again the Raiders got value for their picks.
As Gil Brandt told coach Allen - "you absolutely stole Dowling in the 7th - he will be a special team's demon"
Then - again I watched Reggie work his magic in the UDFA market - handpicking the prospects which fit team needs in hope of finding a nugget or two. Rod Streater, Ryan Robinson, Matt McGloin, and Marcel Reece came from these ranks - do not underestimate these moves. I really like Grigsby from SJS. Keep an eye on him in the slot.
I digress - a wonderful draft and FA period has brought unexpected hope and enthusiasm to this fan base which so needs a reason to cheer.
I want to design a depth chart on defense - can you all help.
I see it shaping up like this - with the obvious first:
DL: Ninja Smith, JTuck, McGee, Sims, and Ellis
DE: Woodley; JTuck, Robinson, Crawford, Mack Attack
LB: Mack attack, Moore of the same, the Brunetts, Roach coach, Maiava and Burris
CB: Brown, Rogers, DJH, McGill, TJ (for ST's)
S: The Woodson, Branch, Young and ____________
Scraping off three for the specialists, a team may carry 53, leaving 50 to be divided between offense and defense.
Saying we divide this in half there is a need for 25 - I have 23 here. Who on this list gets the axe? Who gets added? Why?
Ok - let's get to work and build a defense. If you think a spot is not defined in any way, leave it blank - I think we are not done as the cuts will be coming up shortly!!
