There is a brief post and a link to click in the 'fanshot' section that takes you to an article speculating that McGloin will be traded to the Texans. Now I have to say, on reading the article, there appears to be very little of substance to the story, no quotes, no evidence.
The question that the article does raise though is McGloin on the trading block? Are the Raiders looking to ship out another starting QB of 2013?
My own personal opinion is that whilst everyone has a price, giving McGloin away for a low draft pick would be a serious error. We have gone out and traded for Matt Schaub to give us a veteran presence, we are clearly hoping that last season's form was a blip. We have drafted a QB and we are hoping he is the future.
In my humble opinion we should have a timetable for Carr, whether its a year behind a starter or two. If we are to look after and nurture him, then that timetable shouldn't change. It's what's best for the player and therefore the team.
And, this is where McGloin comes in. If Schaub fails to regain his form or gets injured, I'd throw McGloin in and protect Carr until he's ready. If it so happens that McGloin picks up the reins and gallops off with the team then great. Its unlikely but it is posslible.
Again in my opinion we have traded players too early before, Barksdale, Mitchell and Bass spring to mind, although debatable. I think trading McGloin woud be a mistake.
