It's 2014 and yet here we are again discussing who is going to be the starter just like we did prior to the start of the 2013 season.
Now the discussion involves a veteran who is either ready for Comeback Player of the Year or remains shell shocked from his experience in Houston last year and a whether or not a rookie should redshirt.
In my opinion in Derek Carr's case he should redshirt and learn a lot while watching Matt Schaub or Matt McGloin start ahead of him while the team gels. Worst case scenario Schaub starts and shows he's not ready and then McGloin plays until the bye week. After the bye week Carr becomes the starter.
What's your opinion nation? Do you want Matt Schaub to start? Do you want Matt McGloin to start? Do you want Derek Carr to start? Are you completely set on redshirting Carr and having Schaub and McGloin be the crash test dummies while the team gels and allows Carr to step in when the team is ready to protect him?
There's no right or wrong opinion here. There's no research out there that will prove anyone's theory that sitting a rookie QB is the best thing to do. I'd love to hear anyone's opinion.
