Report: Brandon Flowers lands with Chargers

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Free agent Pro Bowl cornerback was released by the Chiefs last week and as of today, he has joined an AFC West rival. Just not the one Raiders fans hoped he would join. He heads to San Diego according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post. He signs a one-year deal with the Chargers.

According to Wilson, the Raiders were never in the mix to sign Flowers. The suitors included the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions along with the Chargers.

Flowers was a Pro Bowler just last season though it was a down season for him. The Chiefs moved him to slot corner and he didn't play well. He wasn't happy playing out of the slot and the team wasn't happy paying him starter money to do so.

He played six season in Kansas City and had renegotiated his contract last off-season and despite being widely considered one of the better corners in the league, the writing was on the wall for his release.
