Raiders career leader update, 2014 season preview

For those who were around these parts last year, I took to posting how each week's statistical leaders measured up compared to Raiders of the past for season-best and career-best totals. As we get ready for week one against the Jets, I wanted to recap where this year's starters sit on the team leader lists. As always, all stats are provided by Pro Football Reference.

QB

Not much to say here. Derek Carr, the first week one rookie starting QB in Raiders history, has no stats to speak of just yet.

RB

Last year's leading Raiders back, Rashad Jennings, is now a New York Giant. This year the three-RB rotation features just one player who has carried for Oakland before. Darren McFadden is currently #7 on the all-time rushing yardage (3,713 yds.) list for the Raiders. Barring an early injury he should pass Pete Banaszak for #6 within a week or two. The #5 spot is occupied by Marv Hubbard and his 4,394 career Raiders rushing yards.

WR/TE

It looked like Rod Streater might become the first Raiders receiver with 1,000 yards in a season since Randy Moss did it in 2005, but he ended with 888. He enters the 2014 season with the team's 33rd-highest career receiving total (1,472 yds.).

Denarius Moore, meanwhile, sits just above Streater in the #23 spot for Oakland with 2.054 yards. Returning wideouts Andre Holmes and Brice Butler both sit pretty low on the all-time team receiving leaderboard, while newcomer James Jones has 0 Raiders receiving yards.

Of the two starting tight ends, Mychal Rivera has the better career totals for Oakland. His 407 receiving yards is good for #91 on the team's all-time list.

K

Despite his struggles last season, Sebastian Janikowski is still far and away the greatest kicker in Raiders history. His 1,489 career points is almost 600 more than the nearest player on the list, George Blanda. He also holds five spots in the list of the best Raiders scoring seasons ever. The only challenge left for him is to climb up the NFL's all-time scoring list. Jano finished 2013 locked into the #19 position on that board, and enters 2014 with his sights set on #18, Olindo Mare.

DEF

Charles Woodson has 18 career interceptions as a Raider, tied with the great Mike Haynes. He also holds the best sack total for active Raiders with 7.5. I would look for second-year LB Sio Moore to start moving up that sack list, and of course who knows what Khalil Mack will show us.
