Draft and Free Agency Issues

I'm going by what I've read/researched to date and here's My Humble Opinions.

Free Agency. It is deep at WR, CB, OL. OK at DL, RB, TE, LBs. Sucks at QB.

This Means: we can add good quality depth at several positions or target a few big players. #1 question involves who is willing to come to Oakland.

What to Watch for: who gets franchised, the transition tag, or gets an extended contract.

Da Draft. It is deep at RB, CB, WR, LBs. OK at OL, DL (especially DE), TE. QB sucks again!

This Means: it doesn't matter where we have holes after FA is over. We sign who we sign and look to finish out the roster with draft picks and UDFAs. If we have enough cap room left (and we may), we wait until cuts are made later to find a promising kid or a vet with a chip on his shoulder and some gas left in the tank who will take a one year deal just to be on an NFL Roster.

What to Watch for: somebody trading up from lower in R1 to make a big splash on draft night.

Reginald has stated: He will take BPA this draft regardless of position (except maybe QB and 4-3 OLB????) because he feels like we need the best talent we can get as we rebuild and he won't target positions of need.

Best Chance to Trade Down: is if Mariota falls to #4. This QB class totally sucks with none of these guys guaranteed to be able to carry a franchise, even though a few have promise. MM may fall because he is avoiding exposure and some writers say this will hurt his stock. Add to this the report that the Tits think Zach M can be their guy with a better team around him (sound familiar?).

Now, I believe Randy Gregory is going to blow everyone's sox off at the Combine. He was double and triple teamed all year and was dinged up part of the time, but he is the biggest athletic freak in the draft and GMs love these guys. He already has a developed set of pass rushing moves. He doesn't just beat O linemen with overpowering athleticism, like some guys. The dude can play. I think the Tits will take him, Jax will take Williams, and MM will be there at #4 for us to auction off to the highest bidder. I think St. Louis, New York, and Washington will all be in play and we could reap a bonanza of picks. If somebody wants him bad enough to trade up to #2, we take the next pass rushing monster Gregory at #4, put more muscle on his bones, and line him up at DE. He and Mack will keep people up at night with the sweats if he lands with us.

What are your thoughts?
