The deal to bring Rodney Hudson to the Raiders has been all but official for a few days. Now it is actually official. In Hudson the Raiders get one of the top free agents on the market and certainly the best young center available. He is their centerpiece of free agency this year and the first to make his deal official.
The fifth-year center comes over from Kansas City on a 5-year, $44.5 million deal -- making him the highest paid center in the NFL. He replaced Stefen Wisniewski who the team was unable to re-sign and leaves as a free agent.
Hudson was a round two pick in the 2011 draft. He stepped into the starting role in 2013 and has started every game for the Chiefs over the past two seasons. He has improved each season and receiving the third highest grade among centers last season by Pro Football Focus. He had positive grades in every category.
At just 25 years old, he is considered a rare long term solution in free agency.
