Oakland Raiders Training Camp, Day 3: News, Notes and Pictures

We've already discussed the injuries that occurred at the Raiders training camp, but the news wasn't all bad. They guys got in a good day of work. Unless they were over 30. In which case they could have the day off. There were no pads for this practice, but as we are learning, that doesn't mean much when Hue Jackson is calling the shots. Players are still getting hit.

I am going to give a brief pictorial recap of the days events, based on reports by Jerry McDonald and Vittorio Tafur. All the pictures come to us via Raiders.com.

  • I thought the most interesting piece of news came from Jerry McDonald. He mentioned that Jacoby Ford's injury was going to be a setback because the Raiders' offense was featuring a lot more motion and shifting and that Jacoby Ford was the centerpiece. I don't see this as being that big of a setback, if Ford is back in a couple of weeks. The offense can practice with someone else in that role. Most importantly, I like the sound of motion and shifting. This offense has a lot of versatile and dynamic players.

Oakland Raiders: Thoughts and Feelings From One Crazy Friday

What a crazy day to be an Oakland Raiders fan. Nnamdi leaves, but not before supplying everyone with a glimmer of hope he may be returning; Jared Gaither is thought to be signed, then he is, and now he almost is, and the Raiders were on the practice field to boot. I planned to write something in-depth and thoughtful about Nnamdi right now, but I am wiped out and unfortunately I do not have the same luxury of time as I had the previous two days. I'll have to get to that later.

In the meantime, I thought I could set the table for the day and start a new thread for y'all to knock yourselves out in.

Oakland Raiders Free Agents: Tracking the 7/29 Rumors for the Raiders Free Agents and Targets

The Oakland Raiders free agents watch didn't see a lot of activity on Thursday. There were really very few new rumors of any substance. I expect that will change today. Today is the first day that players can official sign there free agent contracts. It is also the first day the free agents can visit interested teams.

That means there should be plenty of rumors and news. At the very least Jon Condo and Jarvis Moss should be in to sign the contracts they already agreed to. There is also a good chance that Michael Bush and the other restricted free agents ink their deals today.

Oakland Raiders Free Agents: Tracking the 7/28 Rumors for the Raiders Free Agents and Targets

The Oakland Raiders free agency buzz was a little slower on Wednesday. At least for the players they are targeting. It picked up for some of the players already on the roster. And it picked up to the point that some of those guys are gone. Still the Raiders have not yet lost out on anyone they wanted to keep or anyone that we know they have been talking to.

I expect there to be more action today, and I am guessing Friday is going to be absolutely bazonkers—yeah that's right. I just made up a new word, but Friday is going to deserve it. Anyway, I don't have much to do today, except keep an eye on the wire and write about the Raiders. Score for me! I'll be updating this post and adding new ones as the day goes on. After I get my ass out of bed that is. I am delay posting this. So, you are actually in the future right now. How does that feel? Jump over for the booty....

Pirate Booty: Raiders' First Move, Small Market for Nnamdi? and More?

This may be the best non-holiday Monday ever. By all accounts the lockout is coming to an official end today! If—for some stupid reason—that does not happen, then today is going to be ridiculously stupid. Let us not think about such dark things.

Today's Pirate Booty reflects the the end of the lockout. There is a ton of speculation on roster moves—moves that are about to start happening.

Pirate Booty: The Raider News Week that Was 7/17-7/23

When I was compiling the weekly recap of Raider news last week, I was very hopeful that that would be the last week I would do so while the NFL was still i a lockout. Wrong! We are still under a lockout, but this time I am even more confident this will be the last week I have to do this with the lockout raining crap all over everything.

There are still some solid Raider tidbits from the previous week. Check 'em out, and if you want the full edition of Pirate Booty just bang it here to open the Treasure Trove.

Pirate Booty: Warren Sapp Says Something Nice about Raiders, Raiders Biggest Need In FA and More

In terms of Pirate Booty, this was a boom or bust day, and we definitely busted. The lockout was either going to end, and there was going to be stories left and right about players arriving etc., or the lockout was going to continue and the sports world was going to be left with their jaw slacked and their junk in their hand.

Well close that jaw and wash your hands because the lockout is in full effect, and the Booty is slim, but not in an attractive Cameron Diaz circa Charlie's Angels kinda way. Jump over and see for yourselves....
