JaMarcus Russell Is An Oakland Raider!

It may have taken longer than any other player took to sign with the team that drafted him, but he is here!!!

I can now wear my JaMarcus Russell jersey without being asked, "When is he going sign?".

JaMarcus Russell is now in a VERY UNIQUE situation where he can study under Daunte Culpepper.

Daunte is the perfect study for young JaMarcus. well, that is IF he steers clear of the Hornblower Cruise Line!!!

JaMarcus reminds me of a young Daunte Culpepper. The accuracy is on par and his arm is even stronger.

We shall see, as the NFL has chewed up spit out #1 Draft picks before. But, for now we can rejoice that there are no off field distractions left.

The official number is 68 million for 6 years. I will update this as more info becomes available.

Update:

The Raiders can wait until after the Browns game to add him to the roster. This means that we do not have to release or trade anyone at this point.

We have Jamarcus, now all we need is the A's
to be back in Oakland, so Swish and Chavy can take Josh to Applebees.  I will never wish injury on anyone, but a few days of food poisoning wouldn't be so bad, would it.

Seriously, man. Something had to give eventually.

This preseason has been a disaster for these raiders. First we have Al Davis deciding to set presidence on the money lottery picks were making by being such a pain in the ass that the franchise QB we desperately needed holds out on us for three months.

Then, Lane Kiffin actually got the delusion that Josh McCown would be a better starting qb than DAUNTE CULLPEPPER.

Something had to give. Finally at least if this season goes sour we have a future to look forward too.

This is the first time since I was a kid they've locked down a young QB for a long period of time.

It's about damn time
Time to get JaMarcus up to speed by starting Culpepper, and showing him how a big and mobile quarterback should move around in the Raiders offense.

Hey Kiffen, you want to lose your job? Then start Mc-not-so-big-mac. If you want to build a team that will finally shut up all the Raider Haters, then start Culpepper.

While you're at it, start looking for a new kicker. He's ruining our team like he ruined my fantasy team.

The Biggest News with No Impact- Story
For the short term it's nice that he's finally signed. While it's the richest contract signed by a #1 it remains to be seen how much is guaranteed. Realistically, he doesn't play before 2008.

Back to McCown and Culpepper. Kiffin is right in not starting Culpepper. It would not be fair to throw him out there until he masters the playbook. All that would do is set him up for failure and this team has very little credibility right now on the field.

McCown was better than anything we saw last season. Let's not be so quick to write him off. NO, he won't lead us to the Super Bowl, but he also won't be the biggest reason why this team loses games either.

Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
