Oakland Raiders News: Gibril Wilson Fills a HUGE Need For The Raiders
The BEST free agent safety, and perhaps the best safety available...PERIOD...Including the draft, just signed with the Oakland Raiders.
You can say what you want about Al Davis and this organization, but, nobody can say that they do not want to win.
Wilson is now the 3rd highest paid safety in the NFL and at his age, 26, he is still getting better.
When I compare his numbers to Stu's it is MIND BOGGLING!!! In 11 less games he has MUCH better numbers.
In 63 games Stu forced 2 fumbles, had 4 interceptions, 20 passes defensed, 0 sacks and 316 tackles (258 solo).
In ONLY 52 games, Gibril Wilson, forced 6 fumbles, 11 interceptions, 365 tackles (296 solo), 27 passes defensed and 6 sacks.
GIBRIL is a HUGE improvement over Schweigert and has solidified the defensive backfield.
Nnamdi, Routt, Huff and Wilson are instantly a VERY exciting defensive backfield.
This reminds me of the Eric Turner signing and I cannot tell you, ENOUGH, how HUGE a pick-up this is for the Raiders.
I am EXCITED!!!!
This looks like reason #9 to be Pumped for 2008.
Now we can go with Gholston or one of the Longs and an offensive player, Devin Thomas/Jamaal Charles in the second if we draft defense in the first or a defensive player, Trevor Laws, if Jake Long is the pick.
The fourth round could have some pretty good backs and receivers. The 97th pick can now be used for the best receiver (Hawkins/Royal).

Guess Who's Back!!!!
#1: The signing of Fargas: excellent, a backfield of Bush, Fargas, Echemondu (spelling? ouch) is looking great.
#2: Exclusive Franchise of Nnamdi: excellent, had to do it, and here is to the Raiders locking him up long term. GET IT DONE AL!!
#3: Signing of Kelly: Shocking, I am still in shock a bit on this one. I know that Sapp and others are high on the guy, but 50+ Mil is pretty fucking high! I mean Wow. I hope his knee is all good, and it is true that this contract could look really good in a couple years, but again, 50+ fucking mil, wow! I have to just keep saying it.
#4: Signing of Gibril: Excellent, he has averaged 100 tackles the last 3 seasons, he can play SS, Huff can now play FS, NO MORE STU! This just works in so many ways. (Single tear drop) The Raiders defensive backfield looks scary!!
Reporter: Whats your prediction for the fight Mr. T?
Mr. T: PAIN!!
My predictions exactly Mr. T! Looking forward from this point (4:50am-5/1/08), Berrian is in Oakland today, and I hope to see that he has signed by the end of the day. Kwame Harris is also in town, and if Cable approves I suspect he is signed as well.
The Raiders almost certainly will go D Line in the 1st round of the Draft. It appears as though DE Long, or DT Dorsey should fall to the Raiders, and I expect the Raiders to take um.
I just don't buy all the Hype that McFadden will fall. Someones gonna take him concidering the year Peterson just had, and the skill set that McFadden possesses. If he does fall to the Raiders, that means Dorsey and Long are off the board. This means the Raiders must take McFadden. You just cannot pass on that kind of value at #4 regardless of the RB situation.
Oh Sure, some of you will argue that the Raiders should take OT Long, or DT Ellis at #4 instead, but that overvalues both of them. Ellis is undersized and doesn't fill the Raiders need of a game changer at DT, and Long lacks the lacks elite mobility for an elite OT prospect, and that don't project well to the ZB scheme.
Instead, if the Raiders take McFadden, they can trade him to Dallas or others for value, or keep him and watch the maturation of the next Bo Jackson, minus the career ending tackle in Cincy.
Now its time to get ruthless, and clean up the roster and free up some cap. I expect both Rhodes and Jordan to be traded if there are any takers, or plain and simple cut. Like they say, you gotta know when to hold um, and know when to fold um. Its time to fold um up, and ship um out. (of the AFC West Altogether) Stu, Gone! Eugene will be the backup. Terdell Sands, pretty sure hes gonna go to if the Raiders can bolster the DT position in the Draft. To expensive, to much of a bust. Gallary, should be gone. Makes way to much money for a decent guard.
Yes, Al! Do It! Get Ruthless With It!

I have no problem with the Kelly signing. I am concerned like you about the knee injury but presumably Raider doctors, trainers have checked that out. Simply stated he is our best run stopper, he was out of position as a DE.
With Warren, Sands and Kelly the Raiders don't need another DT, so Dorsey and Ellis are non-factors. By the way Dorsey is only an inch taller than Ellis, both are short, stocky DT's.
There are more 1st round RB flops than stars so McFadden is a waste, the Raiders will never draft him.
The Raiders cannot let Sands go, the cap hit would be tremendous and would get them nothing. You have to be patient with man mountains. People forget that Haynesworth was a bust for 4 years.
I feel the same about Gallery. It is fashionable to say Gallery is a bust, that is simply not true. He came into the league and was immediately inserted at LT, the next year RT, then finally last year LG. He played very well, the Raiders ran well, didn't suffer a lot of QB sacks, doesn't he get some credit for that? I promise you that if the Raiders wanted to trade him, a lot of teams would be waiting in line to take him. You cannot confuse how much a guy gets for how valuable he is. Hell, every player is making too much money, cannot concern yourself with that.
It is official that the Raiders let Sims go, not a bad career for a guy who was undrafted. Kelly was also undrafted. I note that no one mentions Henderson as a possible replacement. I cannot believe that the Raiders would let Sims go unless they had a good idea as to who would replace him. It is possible that the Raiders think Kwame is the answer, I have no idea but letting Sims go which is arguably the most important line position leads me to think they have a better replacement.
