sandwich picks
I was reading an interview of the SD GM. He says they do not get involved in free agency because when they lose a free agent and don't get one themselves they get sandwich picks and build their team by draft picks. That sounded rather smart from where I sit. It costs considerably less, and gives them a stream of rich talent on their team (if they draft wisely). He explained generally how it works, if you lose more players than you get by free agency then you are rewarded with these picks. That got me to thinking, so far the Raiders have only signed one free agent, and have lost 3. Brayton, Clemons and Porter have all left. If the Raiders do not sign another player then I think they should get two picks around the 4th or 5th round. I hope that is the case. If they sign Kwame then that would be reduced I guess.
Does anyone know anything about this????

Here is what I've found about that
A team is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks if it is determined that they lost more or better players than they were able to acquire during the previous year's free agency period. The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents (maximum of four).
Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula that was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a team is covered by this formula.
Great Work!!!
McCown - Last Year's starting QB
Brayton - Former First Rounder
Clemons - Leading Sack Master
Jerry Porter - Number 1 Receiver
Signed
Wilson - Starting Strong Safety
The League will find some way to screw us, so I'm not counting on the comps. But, from where I sit, they should be compensated if things don't change.

There Is No Way:
At LT, we have Henderson and...and...and...Buhler...Buhler...
That or we are banking on going LT in the Top 2 rounds.
That would give us Sam Baker or Jake Long...Perhaps.
