Silver and Black Report: Wide Outs are Wide Open

No offense to Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, 4 Games of Tim Dwight and Johnnie Lee Higgings...BUTTTTTTT...The Raiders had ZERO playmakers on offense.

With JaMarcus Russell taking over the reigns next year, it is a good thing that Zach Miller is already on board. That will give him the outlet that every young QB needs.

After only one year under Kiffin and Cable, I expect the offensive line to perform even better next year EVEN if we do not draft Long, Otah, Baker or Clady.

If the line does improve, then JaMarcus will need a receiver that can make double moves to get open deep downfield and that has breakaway speed in order to create separation for RAC yards.

There has only been one underclassman that has declared for the draft, Mario Urritia from Louisville, and many teams are awaiting word from DeSean Jackson and Malcomlm Kelly on their plans for next year, so that leaves Limas Sweed, Early Doucet and Adarius Bowman as potential 1st round acquisitions at this point.

None of them are projected to go as high as 3rd or 4th, so any one of them would also bring another draft pick as well that could be used later.

After you get past those names and really evaluate the pack it becomes easy to say that there are NO 4.29 Randy Moss/Calvin Johnson clones out there, but there are many talented wide-outs that can be playmakers in our system.

I look at guys who project from the late second to fifth round and I like what I see in guys like:

Harry Douglas - Louisville (Mid - Late 2nd round)

Eddie Royal - Virginia Tech (Late 2nd - Late 3rd)

Lavelle Hawkins - Cal (Late 3rd - Early 4th)

His stock has slipped a bit in the past 6 weeks.

Marcus Monk - Arkansas (Late 3rd - Late 5th)

He got his knee banged up pretty good and went from surefire 1st rounder to Michael Bush territory quicker than you can say hike.

He is my sleeper pick in this draft and would be a nice 6 foot 6 target for J-Mark.

With safeties being at a premium and receivers and OT's likely to be had from the 2nd round on...I am beginning to be convinced that PERHAPS the Raiders WILL draft Kenny Phillips of Miami IF they can trade down!!!

Stay Tuned, as more info is released daily regarding the draft.

As of Today:

I'd trade down no lower than 8 and get a 3rd rounder and 6th rounder back along with Kenny Phillips.

Then I'd draft Otah, Sweed, Caldwell or Doucet in the 2nd round

Here are the updated underclassmen declarations:
