Oakland Raiders News: Gibril Wilson Fills a HUGE Need For The Raiders

New, comments

The BEST free agent safety, and perhaps the best safety available...PERIOD...Including the draft, just signed with the Oakland Raiders.

You can say what you want about Al Davis and this organization, but, nobody can say that they do not want to win.

Wilson is now the 3rd highest paid safety in the NFL and at his age, 26, he is still getting better.

When I compare his numbers to Stu's it is MIND BOGGLING!!! In 11 less games he has MUCH better numbers.

In 63 games Stu forced 2 fumbles, had 4 interceptions, 20 passes defensed, 0 sacks and 316 tackles (258 solo).

In ONLY 52 games, Gibril Wilson, forced 6 fumbles, 11 interceptions, 365 tackles (296 solo), 27 passes defensed and 6 sacks.

GIBRIL is a HUGE improvement over Schweigert and has solidified the defensive backfield.

Nnamdi, Routt, Huff and Wilson are instantly a VERY exciting defensive backfield.

This reminds me of the Eric Turner signing and I cannot tell you, ENOUGH, how HUGE a pick-up this is for the Raiders.

I am EXCITED!!!!

This looks like reason #9 to be Pumped for 2008.

Now we can go with Gholston or one of the Longs and an offensive player, Devin Thomas/Jamaal Charles in the second if we draft defense in the first or a defensive player, Trevor Laws, if Jake Long is the pick.

The fourth round could have some pretty good backs and receivers. The 97th pick can now be used for the best receiver (Hawkins/Royal).
