Bruce Campbell has been sidelined all training camp with an injury the Raiders had not surprisingly shed little insight on. Campbell took the practice field for the first time on Saturday, and he took it upon himself to let the world know about his injury. Apparently he hurt his knee sometime in the offseason. It was not bad enough that it required surgery. That's the good news. The bad news is that he has missed a load of practice time. Campbell talked about this with Steve Corkran. Campbell:
"It’s pretty tough because it seems like you’re missing out on a lot, you’re missing out on opportunity. But you can’t have that mind-set going into it. I’m just like, ‘Hey. this is what happened to me. I just have to make up for it.’"
Campbell went onto say that he wasn't sure if he would get reps at guard, tackle or both. My guess is that he is going to be spending most of his time at guard. I have serious doubts that Campbell will be able to put his immense talents together enough that he will win the starting the job, but I am glad he will at least now be on the field to try.
