Jason Campbell should be ready to go for Raiders practice on Monday. And that is great news indeed. After all, suffered from a new strain of injury not yet seen in the Oakland camp. He was "dinged" up. Given the fact that he is expected back on Monday, I am rating a "ding" as less severe than a "nick." Campbell will have to pass the concussion test before he is cleared to play as the "ding" occurred in his brain.
I think it is safe to say that Kevin Boss suffered a nick. Boss took a helmet off the knee in Saturday's poor excuse for a preseason game. Hue Jackson described Boss as being week-to-week. Steve Corkran reports that Jackson said Boss' timetable for a return is similar to Chaz Schilens.
I certainly hope not! I am not a big fan of Schilens' return timetables. His week-to-weeks end up being more season to seasons.
Now, let's assume Schilens is a normal person for a moment and use that timetable. He has not yet returned to practice, but Jackson has said he is close. I have a lot more confidence that Boss could progress at that rate. And given those parameters, it certainly doesn't seem out of the question to expect Boss back for the opener.
Let's hope so. His blocking is going to be more vital to this offense than his receiving. The Raiders will struggle to replace what he brings to the blocking table.
