Raiders avoid blackout, will be televised locally

New, comments

The Raiders announced today that their week 9 home game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will air locally.

It took an extension for the second week in a row but the Raiders will be on local television again. This makes the 12th straight home game the Raiders have met the minimum attendance requirements to air on local television.

The game will air at 1:05pm Pacific time on FOX.

The new 85% rule in the NFL doesn't require the Raiders to sell out and as the extension would suggest, they haven't actually sold out so tickets are still available for the game. They had the same situation two weeks ago when the Jacksonville Jaguars came to Oakland and the upper decks were about half full for the game.

Having two straight mediocre, non division opponents come to town has contributed to the lack of interest but the fact that the fans are still coming out in decent numbers is still a plus. They may have to win this game to keep the interest up and the streak alive when the Saints come marching in two weeks from Sunday.
