The AFC West was set to play the AFC South and NFC East this coming season. The Raiders finish third in the AFC West which means they play the third place teams in the AFC East and AFC North. We already knew the Steelers would be the AFC North opponent. Now with the Jets losing today, the Raiders learned their complete 2013 opponents.
Here is how the Raiders' opponents home and away shake out:
Home
Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Jaguars, Titans, Eagles, Redskins, Steelers
Away
Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Texans, Cowboys, Giants, Jets
That means the Raiders travel to New York twice and to Texas twice. But having three games in the Eastern time zone is a welcome sight after traveling East a league high five times in 2012.
The other AFC West teams have the same opponents for the most part. They play the teams who finished in the same position in the AFC East and AFC Central as they did. Here are those teams:
Broncos - Patriots, Ravens
Chiefs - Browns, Bills
Chargers - Bengals, Dolphins
