I asked Raider Nation which of the physical drills they valued most in a defensive back. The top vote getter was the 3 cone drill. Second among the options was the 40 yard dash. Here are the results of those drills in the 2012 combine.
3 cone drill (all players are CB unless otherwise indicated)
1. Josh Robinson, Central Florida- 6.55
2. Terrence Fredrick, Texas A&M- 6.59
3. Coty Sensabaugh, Clemson- 6.60
4. Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina- 6.61
5. (FS) Harrison Smith, Notre Dame- 6.63
6. (SS) Jeron McMillian, Maine- 6.69
9. (SS) Corey White, Samford- 6.72
10. (SS) Duke Ihenacho, San Jose St- 6.78
40 yard dash
1. Josh Robinson, Central Florida- 4.33
2. Ron Brooks, LSU- 4.37
3. Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina- 4.40
4. Coty Sensabaugh, Clemson- 4.42
5. Dwight Bentley, Louisiana-Lafayette- 4.43
10. (FS) Christian Thompson, South Carolina St- 4.50
13. (SS) Sean Richardson, Vanderbilt- 4.52
13. (FS) Trent Robinson, Michigan State- 4.52
Observations: Pretty clear Josh Robinson is the superior athlete among the defensive backs in this class. If Al Davis were still around, he would do everything in his power to get him. Coty Sensabaugh and Stephon Gilmore also had strong showing in both categories.
