Raiders Pro Bowler, Richard Seymour, appeared on NFL SiriusXM Raidio Monday where he spoke to Adam Shein and Rich Gannon. The veteran defensive lineman had some glowing words to say about Raiders' first year head coach, Dennis Allen.
"Some coaches just have the 'it factor,' and Dennis Allen has it." said Seymour. "I can't stress enough about everyone being on the same page."
These words coming from Seymour, who was coached by Bill Bellichick in New England for the first eight years of his career, carry a lot of weight. He is also a seven time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro so that adds something as well.
The "it factor" of which he speaks is what had Dennis Allen move from being a defensive backs coach to a head coach in two seasons. After the job he did pulling the Broncos defense up from the cellar to respectability, there were several teams looking at him as a candidate for their vacant head coaching position. The Raiders went after him aggressively and signed him.
We quickly saw the kind of presence he has and it is something that is rare in a young coach. His even keeled demeanor along with his ability to not mince words is important in a head coach. His former head coaches John Fox and Sean Payton have and they have both had good success in the NFL.
Billichick, Fox, and Payton is some pretty impressive company for the Raiders young coach.
