Last Saturday, during the Raiders final full practice before their Monday Night preseason opener, linebacker Mario Kurn and Duke Calhoun went down with injuries. They went down within a two plays of one another and at the time it was uncertain what the injury was or how severe it was. Well, it turns out those injuries were very serious.

After practice Saturday, Dennis Allen had this to say:

"Mario Kurn and Duke Calhoun, both of them went down with knee injuries today." Said Allen. "Both look to be significant. We'll have to go through the process of being MRI'd but look to both be significant. We'll see."

Those injuries turned out to be ACL tears for both players and now the two of them have been waived/injured from the team. The move has been added to the transactions on the team's official website.

Kurn is a rookie undrafted free agent pickup out of out of University of San Diego. Calhoun was an early free agent pickup by the team. He had previously appeared in 9 games in 2010 for the New York Giants.

Both are expected to clear waivers and be placed on injured reserve.
