Wisniewski not practicing, Leinart and Heyward-Bey return

Raiders backup quarterback, Matt Leinart, left last Friday's game following a hard hit from Cardinals defensive lineman Ricky Lumpkin. He was soon taken to the locker room with a lacerated finger and the rumblings of what the Raiders would do about bringing in another quarterback began.

Well, those rumblings can stop because Leinart returned to practice today, less than four days after receiving stitches in his right index finger. As a left handed quarterback, the injury is on his non-throwing hand.

Darrius Heyward-Bey was also back at practice. He too went out with an injury in Friday's game. But the day after the game, head coach Dennis Allen said there was no cause for alarm with regard to DHB.

"It was not serious." Said Allen. "He's a little sore today so we're gonna monitor him as we go through practice this week and see how much he's able to do."

Allen also insisted Leinart's injury was nothing serious.

"Matt really just had a pretty good little cut on his right index finger of his right hand and he's gonna be fine too."

On the flip side, center Stefen Wisniewski was not practicing today. He went down with a calf injury in the first game of the preseason and has yet to return from it. At the time, it didn't appear to be too serious but with him still not practicing, it could mean he misses the team's third preseason game on Saturday against the Lions.

Typically the third preseason game is when the starters get the most time on the field. The opposite is true for the final preseason game. The Starters sit most, if not all, of the final game. So if he misses this week, we may have to wait for the season opener to see him again. I will keep you posted on that.

Others still not practicing are Jacoby Ford (foot), Aaron Curry (knee), Denarius Moore (hamstring), Rashawn Jackson (hip), Zack Hurd (head), Jamie Cumbie (foot), Ed Wang (shoulder), and Richard Seymour (veteran time off).
