The Raiders have had an up and down first half. Things started out well despite the fumble by Rod Streater. The Raiders scored first and had held the Chargers to a field goal for the tie following the first quarter. But soon the Chargers offense came to life as they realized they could beat the Raiders through the air.
The big problem on the Chargers touchdown drive was penalties. The Raiders had three of them, all for first downs, and the Chargers marched downfield to score and go up 10-3.
The Raiders finished off the first half with a field goal of their own to send it to half down 10-6.
Interesting facts had Darrius Heyward-Bey with his 100th NFL catch. It was a nice one too in which he went up high on the sideline to pull it down. Darren McFadden had 8 catches in the first half which is a career high for him. He was most of the Raiders offense and showed just how valuable he is to the success of this team.
Stats: Chargers had seven carries for 15 yards but Rivers threw for 138 yards and a touchdown. Carson Palmer was 17-24 for 156 yards, 67 of which went to McFadden. Raiders ran for 48 yards on 12 carries.
Now let's get to the second half. If the Raiders can cut out the stupid penalties (tired of hearing that yet?) they can more than hang with these Chargers..
